Alix is our epic feat contest winner this week. Here’s what she had to say about DailyFeats, and watch her video (above) to hear what she did!

“Daily Feats has been a great way to help me feel accomplished for the little things.  It’s nice to get a daily pat on the back for things like eating breakfast, feeding the cats - every day things that are still really crucial.  But!  Daily Feats has helped me to push myself beyond my ordinary routine.  That “play music” button was sitting there…unloved…staring at me with its intense Beethoven eyes.  Hitting that epicly, with a big side of “do it now,” was like my own personal end-zone dance.  :-D”

We’re feeling smug about the fact that the Beethoven illustration on our !playmusic stamp was enough to push Alix into finally recording one of her songs. Props to our wonderful stampmakers for that!

Visit Alix’s check-in here, and if you’re curious to hear more of her song or support her group by buying the album, go for it: song/album. She would really appreciate it and we are happy to !payitforward.

Epic Checkin Contest Winner: Jenny’s !careforyourpet feat with her foster dog, Christmas

By Sara Hopson @sahopson

Jenny, of Arlington, VA, won the epic feat contest this week because her check-in and the story that accompanied it showed how proud and excited she was for the progress her foster dog, Christmas, has made leading up to being adopted. And what’s more, her selfless act of getting this dog ready to go to a loving and devoted home is what we’re all about — paying kindness forward and taking care of others. Here’s her story:

“DailyFeats has been a great tool that I am using to build new habits and reinforce ones I already have. I have been focusing on both keeping up with household chores and habits that help me keep my New Year’s resolution of being healthier and lighter.

“Checking In” each of my !feats gives me a little boost each time.  It’s my “atta girl” for all of the little things that we do in a day that often go unappreciated – even by myself.

My Epic Feat of !careforyourpet is about “Christmas,” my foster dog for Oldies But Goodies Cocker Spaniel Rescue. She came in – you guessed it – just before Christmas this past year in terrible shape physically.  She has been treated for all of her woes and is getting healthier every day.

We have been working on getting her ready for a family of her own. As we all know, these days everything happens online. The picture of a dog is critical to their catching an adopter’s eye!

On Sunday, March 4th, Jeanne Taylor volunteered her time and expertise to take the amazing photos she is known for of as many fosters as she could. What an opportunity! I was going to make sure that Christmas got there.

In addition to being the only “five minute client” (read: calm, cooperative and responsive) she calmly met about ten other dogs and meandered around the big yard without any apprehension. This is a HUGE victory for she and I. We have been working on building her trust for and manners with both humans and dogs. Her only “faux-paws” was when a young dog tried to hump her…and really, who wants that!?!

I was so proud of her and excited to see Jeanne’s amazing photos! Go Christmas!  Thank you DailyFeats for keeping me on my toes so I could take advantage of all of this!”

Thank you, Jenny. We’re happy that DailyFeats can give you that pat on the back you so deserve. And we couldn’t resist showing off Christmas! Here she is, and here’s the link to inquire about adopting this sweet pup if you live in the area.

If you want to try your hand at winning our weekly epic checkin contest, just click  the button to “Enter” your feat on the pop-up after you check in. We absolutely love reading these submissions and it’s exceedingly hard to choose just one. That must mean you’re doing a whole lot of good. Keep it up!

Nancy did !loseapound and entered it in our first Epic Checkin Contest. Her feat check-in is here, and she told us what made this feat extra special for her:

“I’d successfully kept off the #100 pounds I’d lost five years ago until I had to quit my gym a few months ago because of an eye problem that doesn’t let me get hit in the head (I had done Muay Thai and BJJ). That, and the stress of moving, led to my eating more carbs than normal, heck, more food than normal, and not exercising. As a result, I had gained back 25 of those pounds that took me a year to take off. This Wednesday I began to closely follow low-carb, Thursday I joined a gym where I can lift weights and do cardio, and today I weighed five pounds less than on Sunday. I find that using DailyFeats is helping me meet my goals by encouraging me to take small but tangible steps every day.”

Our members are so great. Nancy, thank you for sharing your story with us and I’m so glad you’re finding DailyFeats so helpful. Keep it up! :)
